Hello Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

My name is Mr. Bryan (aka Mr. Dodd) and I am so excited to kick off a new school year. I am look forward to getting to know you and each student throughout the year. Sixth grade is one of the best years—a year many sixth graders remember for a very long time.

I look forward to working with such great students, parents and teachers. This is my fourth year teaching at Fox Creek, and I am very excited to continue here. I have been teaching 6th grade in Douglas county for the last ten years. I am a fifth generation Denver native and I grew up in this area. I received a BFA and my teaching degree from Metro State and I received my special education endorsement from the C.D.E. four years ago. I have lived in Los Angeles and Seattle, but returned to Colorado and I am making it my home. My wife, son and I currently live in Littleton. My wife is a special education teacher in Cherry Creek. I enjoy scuba diving, kayaking and I am an avid disc golfer. I have a passion for photography and digital imaging and I occasionally display works in local galleries.

Every school year brings new teachers, new rules, and new expectations. Students are often “nervous” about sixth grade. However, I know that each student will work and achieve to the best of his/her ability in a positive and cooperative manner and in doing so, will be successful. I will do everything possible to ensure this. I value my relationship with every student and parent. While the school has its own behavior expectations, we will also develop classroom guidelines so that all students have a clear understanding of classroom expectations and a good learning environment. I feel that it is also important that students feel comfortable talking to me about things that are happening and that they learn to become advocates for themselves. However, I ask that if you ever have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me or make an appointment to discuss the matter in person; otherwise, I cannot address your concerns and make changes where needed.

As a sixth grade team, we feel it is important for our students to have the opportunity to work with all of the teachers on our team, to help prepare them for the changes that will occur in middle school. We will do this by regrouping in different academic areas. We feel this benefits students academically and socially. This allows students to be part of a larger team, rather than an individual class. I know your child will love the chance to get to know ALL of the sixth grade teachers and students. Sixth graders are capable of such incredible ideas and interesting conversations; I am anxious to be part of a rich environment of learners and thinkers! I look forward to a wonderful year. Thank you for your help and support ahead of time.

Most sincerely,
Mr. Bryan Dodd
